Made famous by Verdi's opera, Aida is the story of an enslaved African princess and her doomed love for the captain of the Egyptian guard.

It is the third show presented by Walt Disney Theatrical Productions, following the success of Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. 

Aida was also a winner at the 54th Annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Elton John and Tim Rice won the award for "best original score," however, the Disney show was not nominated for "best musical."
