Kiss Me, Kate is
the story of an egotistical actor, Fred and his temperamental
ex-wife, Lilli, who are rehearsing a
production of Taming of the Shrew in Baltimore. He plays
Petruchio and she plays Katherine, but his flirtation with
Bianca ignites the drama and life begins to imitate art.
The score includes
"Too Darn Hot," "Another O'pnin,' Another
Show," and "Why Can't You Behave?"
Kiss Me, Kate
won a whopping five awards at the 54th Annual Tony
Awards held June 4, 2000 at Radio City Music Hall in New
York City. Awards included "best musical revival",
"best actor in a musical" (Brian Stokes),
"best musical director" (Michael Blakemore), and
"best orchestration" (Don Sebesky)
